Hazel Auldridge was born in a small share cropper cabin in 1946; she was the fifth and final child. Growing up on farm instilled stamina within Hazel's personality enriched her imagination. Since she was the youngest child, she learns the habits of her older siblings, some good and some not so well.

Always together, the family worked extremely hard usually seven days a week when weather would permit.

If they were not working the field crops, they would be found in the timber cutting wood.

Since they used a wood burning cook stove, it was necessary that they always kept the firewood in supply.

They had farm animals that helped to supply their family meals. It was Hazel’s daily chore to bring in the firewood when she go home from school. Plus she would gather the eggs from the hens’ nest which were located in the chicken house. She would pump fresh water from the sump water pump, and then carry it into the kitchen for the family drinking water, cooking, and cleaning; even used to take a bath in the family wash tub, usually on Saturday evening.

It is these experiences that prepared Hazel to write about yard garden ideas, and products.

She has always loved children, and as an adult she has been an advocate of child safety, and any activity that can generate a better lifestyle for children.

Hazel lives with her husband of forty plus years. They share a small home in North Texas with two dogs, Luke and Lucky, and nine chickens. The parents of the chicken family are Rojo the rooster and Rennie the hen.

Hazel enjoys telling stories of things she has witnessed, especially jovial events, and she never tires of telling jokes. Her ambition is to one day do stand up comic. (Improv)

Of the many challenges in her versatile lifestyle, Hazel loves to write about life’s treasured memories.
